Rules and Roles

The following information is ICly available on every participant's PDC.

TEAM-BUILDING EXERCISE VER.230.5 RULES

1. There are 20 participants in this team-building exercise. 15 of you have been designated Citizens, and 5 have been designated Communists.
2. The objective of the Citizens is to identify and eliminate all Communists.
3. The objective of the Communists is to reach a point where at least 50% of the population are Communists.
4. When one faction attains their victory condition, all members of the other faction are eliminated, if any remain.
5. At the end of each day, all participants assemble and vote on one person to be eliminated from the exercise, or abstain. If the majority of votes are to abstain, then no participant is eliminated. Ties will be broken at random.
6. After elimination, the role of the selected participant is revealed.
7. Each time a Communist is eliminated from the exercise, the Clearance Level of all remaining participants will increase.
8. Each night, all Communists assemble and decide on one Citizen to eliminate from the exercise.
9. When the team-building exercise is completed, all participants will be free to leave.
10. The location of each participant is being tracked at all times.
11. All participants who are eliminated from the exercise are executed.
12. Access Denied.
13. Once there has been a vote for any choice other than “Abstain”, players will no longer be allowed to vote to Abstain.
14. If you fail to vote, your vote will be cast for yourself.
15. Any participant who is killed outside of the rules of the exercise will have their memories uploaded into one of six clone bodies. After the sixth death, further restoration will not be feasible.
16. Killing somebody outside of the rules of the exercise will result in a penalty of either one clone and one Clearance Level demerit, or two clones if Clearance Level is already RED.


TEAM-BUILDING EXERCISE VER.230.5 ROLE EXPLANATIONS

The top of your PDC lists your participant ID. Look at the three-letter code near the end of the ID to identify your role. Due to advanced eye-tracking software, this code will be obscured if anyone other than the PDC's owner is looking at it.

CIT: Citizen. You are allied with Alpha Complex, but have no special duties or powers. Your objective is to eliminate all Communists.
LOY: Loyalty Officer. You are allied with Alpha Complex, and have been assigned the Mandatory Bonus Volunteer Duty of identifying Communists. Every night, you may select one (1) participant, and you will be informed whether they are an ally or an enemy of Alpha Complex.
DEF: Defense Officer. You are allied with Alpha Complex, and have been assigned the Mandatory Bonus Volunteer Duty of protecting Citizens. Every night, you may select one (1) participant, and they cannot be eliminated or recruited by Communists that night.
TRO: Troubleshooter. You are allied with Alpha Complex, and have been assigned the Mandatory Bonus Volunteer Duty of destroying Communists. One (1) time during the team-building exercise, you may specify one (1) other participant, and they will be eliminated from the exercise.
SUR: Survivor. If you are eliminated from the exercise, you will be identified as CIT (or COM if converted by the Indoctrinator before elimination), not SUR. 24 hours after you are eliminated, you will be re-introduced into the exercise. If your elimination would end the exercise, or if you have been eliminated before, this behavior is disabled. Your affiliation before being re-introduced is Ally. Your affiliation after being re-introduced is $SURVALUE.
PAR: Partner. You are allied with Alpha Complex, and linked to another participant - both Partners will be informed of their Partner’s identity. If Citizen vote, Communist activity, or Troubleshooter action requires that one Partner be eliminated from the exercise, the other will be eliminated instead. If the Indoctrinator targets one Partner, the other will be recruited instead. If the Defense Officer protects one Partner, the other is protected instead.

COM: Communist. You are an enemy of Alpha Complex, but have no special duties or powers. Your objective is to eliminate all Citizens.
INH: Inhibitor. You are an enemy of Alpha Complex, and have been assigned a Mutation that allows you to thwart the Loyalty Officer. Every night, you may select one (1) participant, and if the Loyalty Officer investigates them that night, they will appear as innocent.
SCA: Scanner. You are an enemy of Alpha Complex, and have been assigned a Mutation that allows you to identify carriers of Mandatory Bonus Volunteer Duties. Every night, you may select one (1) participant, and scan them. If the target is the Loyalty Officer, Defense Officer, Troubleshooter, Partner, or Survivor, then the result will be positive. Otherwise, it will be negative.
IND: Indoctrinator. You are an enemy of Alpha Complex, and have been assigned a Mutation that allows you to recruit new Communists. One (1) time during the game, at night, you may select one (1) participant, and that participant will become a Communist. If the target is protected by the Defense Officer, your attempt will fail, and you will be able to try again. If your target is a Partner, then the other Partner will be recruited instead. If your target is the Loyalty Officer, Defense Officer or Troubleshooter, then their Volunteer Duties will be removed. If you succeed in recruiting someone, a public announcement will state this, but not the identity of who was recruited.
